The Student Coalition on Addiction hosted an Addiction Advocacy and Clinical Case Conference at Boston University School of Medicine. It was facilitated by Sim Kimmel and Payel Roy, two Addiction Medicine fellows from Boston Medical Center. We discussed a case of a patient with opioid use disorder who had been involved in the criminal justice system. The conference focused on both the clinical management of OUD as well as advocacy surrounding access to treatment and how the criminal justice system impacts the lives of people who use drugs.
